Prof. Philip Chen, chair professor and dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Macau (UM), has been appointed honorary professor by Obuda University in Hungary. Obuda University hopes that Prof. Chen can share his academic achievements and help raise the university's research quality and enhance its cooperation with UM..

Obuda University was originally founded in the fourteenth century and its predecessor was the Technical Institute of Budapest, which was formed through the merging of Donat Banki Technical Institute, Kando Kalman Politechnical College, and Light Industry Technical College. Obuda University has more than 12,000 students and enjoys impressive achievements in such fields as information, mechanics, electrical engineering, management, economics, and training of prospective teachers.

The appointment ceremony for honorary professors took place in the Budapest Palace of Arts. Obuda University believes that with Prof. Chen's outstanding achievements and contributions in such areas as theoretical development in computational intelligence, intelligent systems, robotics and manufacturing automation, networking, etc., appointing him as an honorary professor will help Obuda University to improve teaching and research quality and enhance its cooperation with UM.

Apart from Prof. Chen, other recipients of the honour include Rector of the Technical University of Wroclaw, Poland, Prof. Tadeusz Więckowski; Prof. Emil M.Petriu from Ottawa University, Canada; Prof. Hamido Fujita from the Iwate Prefectural University; Prof. Marcelo H. Ang from the National Singapore University; Vice-President of the Hungarian Labour Inspectorate Dr. Maria Groszmann; and retired professor from Obuda University Prof. Balint Podor.

Prof. Chen twice received the Outstanding Contribution Award from the Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMC) of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). When he takes up office as the president of IEEE SMC in January 2012, he will become the first incumbent scholar in the Greater China region to hold the post.

澳門大學科技學院院長陳俊龍講座教授獲匈牙利Obuda大學頒授榮譽教授榮銜,期望他能分享學術成果,帶動該校研究質量的提升,以及推動其與澳大的合作。

Obuda大學創建於十四世紀,前身是由Donat Banki理工學院、Kando Kalman理工學院及輕工業理工學院合併而成的布達佩斯理工大學。目前有超過一萬二千名學生,在資訊、機械、電機、管理等學術領域都有很高的成就。

榮譽教授頒授典禮日前於布達佩斯藝術宮舉行,陳俊龍教授出席接受委任。Obuda大學表示,陳教授在計算智能的理論發展、智能系統、機器人科學及生產自動化、計算機網路等方面有卓越的科研成就和貢獻,延攬他為榮譽教授定能帶動該校教學與研究質量的提升,並可促進與澳大之間的合作。

與陳教授一同獲得榮譽教授榮銜的還有:波蘭弗羅茨瓦夫理工大學校長Tadeusz Więckowski教授、加拿大渥太華大學Emil M.Petriu教授、日本岩手縣立大學Hamido Fujita教授、新加坡國立大學Marcelo H. Ang教授、匈牙利勞動監察局副局長Maria Groszmann博士及Obuda大學退休教授Balint Podor。

據了解,國際電機電子工程師學會(The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers,IEEE)系統人機及智能自動學會(Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, SMC)曾兩度向陳俊龍教授頒發"傑出貢獻獎"。此外,他將於二○一二年一月出任IEEE SMC學會主席,成為大中華地區首位擔任此職的現職學者。
